1. Third-Party Content and Tracking
1.1. SSL-Compatible Redirects (Ad Server Tags)
Please note that HTTPS-enabled redirects must always be provided, and all elements passed by these redirects must be accessible via HTTPS. This is the only way we can ensure that your ad assets are loaded on all pages. The redirect should automatically detect which protocol to use to retrieve the content.
1.2. SSL-Compatible Tracking Pixels and ClickCommands
To ensure accurate tracking via provided tracking pixels and ClickCommands, these must be accessible via the HTTPS protocol; see section 2.3 below, “Click Tracking.”
1.3. Tracking
Please note that under the GDPR, only the tracking of campaign information is permitted; tracking of user data is not allowed.
2. Special Considerations for HTML5 Banners
There are currently no international standards for HTML5 banners that ensure flawless functionality. The complexity of their structure presents many potential sources of error.
For HANSER’s specialized portals, please submit HTML5 banners as redirects (hosted on an ad server or web server). A processing fee of 50 euros applies when submitting physical HTML5 ad assets (hosted on our ad server).
2.1. General Information
We process HTML5 banners for standard formats, but not for the following special formats: multi-part banners, expanding banners, sticky banners
2.2. Creation Guidelines
Ideally, you should use tools from rich media providers—such as Mediamind, Flashtalking, DoubleClick Studio, etc.—to create and host the redirect tags for iFrames.
The ad creative must already contain all tracking parameters. In addition, a functional placeholder for a macro must be provided, which allows our ad server to set the target URL or click command and count clicks for our reporting. See section 2.3 below, “Click Counting.”
Whenever possible, HTML5 banners should be responsive—by detecting the screen resolution and then loading a suitable creative from the backend, or at least by being scalable on mobile devices.
The HTML5 banner should not simply be a Flash file converted using “Swiffy.”
Test the ad creatives on all common browsers and let us know which browsers to exclude. If necessary, create a fallback for different browser versions.
Please also refer to the OVK guidelines for HTML5 banners.
2.3. File Size
File size, including code, images, and downstream files (intended to enable user interaction): max. 150 KB. After a bandwidth check, up to 2 MB can be loaded additionally using the “Polite Download” feature.
2.4. Click Counting
Our ad server needs to be able to track clicks on your banner. If you’re having trouble correctly implementing the click command, insert the code from this PDF into the source code before your tag:
Regardless of how your banner is otherwise structured, our ad server will then be able to track the clicks.
Submission of Your Data
Please submit the collected content by the deadline specified in the order confirmation or data request via email to:
